5 Classic Cocktails
The nights are long, the sun is warm, and the drinks are cool. if you want some classic cocktail recipes, we've got you covered
Mojito
This drink is probably the most popular cocktail of all time. It's crisp, fresh, and goes down a treat.
Glass: highball
Ingredients: 1 chopped lime
15 fresh mint leaves (save a sprig to garnish)
1.5 tsp sugar cane syrup
60ml white rum
soda water to top the glass
handful of ice
Method: Place the mint, lime and sugar into the highball glass and muddle until the lime juice and syrup are well mixed. Add the ice and rum. Top with soda stirring well, and decorate with mint sprig.
Cosmopolitan
If you're a vodka fan, this is the cocktail for you.
Glass: cocktail/martini glass
Ingredients: 35ml vodka
15ml cointreau or an orange liqueur
30ml cranberry juice
dash of lime juice
orange peel, to garnish
Method: Place the vodka, cointreau, cranberry juice and lime juice into a cocktail shake filled with ice. Strain into glass and add the orange peel to garnish. If you're feeling adventurous (and safe!) you could safely burn the orange peel over the glass before garnishing, though we don't recommend trying this if it's not your first cocktail of the evening...
