5 in Season Ingredients for July

It's the height of summer and the time for barbecues. Read on for 5 of our favourite in-season ingredients this month, as well as some great recipes to cook with them.

Summer fruits

Summer fruits are at their absolute prime this month. They’re full of flavour and now really is the perfect time to use them.

Radishes

The crunch, the peppery texture, and wonderful colour- we think radishes are seriously underrated. If you fancy some Mexican food, we love this spicy bean tostados with radish salad recipe, or you can try roasting them with thyme.

Green beans

Whether you’re growing your own or buying them in, green beans are coming into their prime in July. This Cookie and Kate green bean salad recipe (click here) is a brilliant way to serve them alongside a barbecue.

Samphire

The perfect accompaniment to fish, this salty green vegetable is cooked beautifully in this vegetarian gnocchi recipe from BBC Good food (click here). We also love this crab salad recipe from Tesco (click here) - perfect for a warm dinner in the garden.

Chillies

Think you can handle the heat? All things chilli are on the menu this summer. Make the most of cooking with fresh chillies while they’re at their best: add them to salads, cook them in one pots and curries, and even add them sweet bakes to give them that fiery twist.
