Whole nutmeg preserves the warm spicy aroma of ground nutmeg, but generally has a stronger taste. Recipes which call for gratings of whole nutmeg use it for the distinctive taste it can offer! We use ours in spinach and feta cheese pie, rice puddings, cookies, sauces and Asian curries.
